Terms of Service

Last Updated: 9 October 2026

Matchspace Music is an all-in-one, AI-powered platform for independent music teachers, provided as modular SaaS: Stage (a professional, bookable teacher presence), Studio (scheduling, payments and business administration) and the Marketplace (a curated channel that connects Teachers with new students). It lets music teachers run and grow their teaching business and gives students a simple, secure way to find, book and take lessons. Matchspace provides this infrastructure; the Teacher runs their own business on it and remains the contractual counterparty to the Student.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Matchspace Music website, applications and services (the "Platform"). They are supplemented by, and should be read with, our Teaching Terms, our Payments & Cancellation Policy and our Privacy & Cookie Policy, each incorporated by reference. Capitalised terms used but not defined here have the meaning given in those documents.

During the Closed Beta the Platform is provided on a limited, invitation-only, pre-release basis: Stage and Studio are free, Matchspace charges no subscription or service fee, Teacher profiles are not published on the public marketplace, and features are provided “as is” and “as available”. Governing law is Switzerland (Zurich), with mandatory UK and EU consumer rights preserved.

Who we are and acceptance

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Matchspace AG, Technoparkstrasse 1, CH-8005 Zürich, Switzerland, registered with the Commercial Register of the Canton of Zurich under no. CHE-246.833.046 (“Matchspace Music”, “Matchspace”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account or using the Platform you confirm you have read, understood and agree to these Terms, the Teaching Terms and the Privacy & Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform. Entity, representative and contact details are set out in our Impressum.

Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use the Platform (the default digital-consent age under Article 8 GDPR). You must keep your credentials secure and are responsible for activity under your account; notify us promptly of any suspected unauthorised use.

Booking for a child. Lessons may be booked for yourself or for a child. When booking for a child you must confirm you are the parent or legal guardian and provide the child’s first name and age, as described in the Teaching Terms; how we handle that data is set out in the Privacy & Cookie Policy.

Verification. We may, but need not, verify a Member’s identity or qualifications, including through a third-party provider; any identity documents are processed as described in the Privacy & Cookie Policy.

Our role – Matchspace is an intermediary and infrastructure provider

Matchspace Music is an all-in-one, AI-powered platform that gives independent music teachers the infrastructure to run and grow their own teaching business: Stage (a professional, bookable teacher presence), Studio (scheduling, payments and business administration) and the Marketplace (a curated channel that connects Teachers with new students). Matchspace provides and operates this infrastructure only; it does not provide tuition. The contract for lessons is concluded directly between the Student and the Teacher, who acts in their own name and for their own account as an independent provider. Matchspace is not a party to that contract and is not a provider, agent, employer or insurer of any Member. The teaching relationship, conduct, pricing, safeguarding, vetting, marketplace ranking, suspension/removal and chat rules are governed by the Teaching Terms.

Closed Beta – no Matchspace fees; Teacher is Merchant of Record

During the Closed Beta, Stage and Studio are free and Matchspace charges no service or subscription fee. The Teacher is the Merchant of Record for all lessons; payments are processed through Stripe and the Teacher pays the applicable Stripe processing fees directly. All bookings and payments must stay on the Platform. How payments, cancellations and refunds work is governed by the Payments & Cancellation Policy. Paid subscription tiers and Matchspace service fees apply only at general launch, under the Public Launch Terms of Service.

Your consumer rights

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you may have a statutory right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days. Where you ask us and the Teacher to begin a lesson service immediately, you may lose that right once the service is fully performed, as explained in the Payments & Cancellation Policy. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence.

Intellectual property and your content

The Platform and Matchspace content (including trademarks, logos and software) are the exclusive property of Matchspace AG and/or its licensors and are protected by Swiss and international law. This website and all intellectual property on it are subject to the copyright of Matchspace AG. The licence you grant Matchspace in content you upload (including the marketing/promotional licence and your related warranties and indemnity) is set out in the Teaching Terms.

Acceptable use

You must not breach applicable law or third-party rights; post content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, defamatory, obscene, discriminatory, hateful or violent; circumvent the Platform or take bookings or payments off-Platform; scrape or harvest Member data; or interfere with the security or operation of the Platform. We may review, block or remove content and investigate suspected breaches, but are not obliged to monitor proactively. The binding chat rules are set out in the Teaching Terms.

Closed Beta – “as is”, changes and availability

The Platform is provided during the Closed Beta on an “as is” and “as available” basis; features may be changed, suspended or withdrawn and the Closed Beta may end at any time. We are not responsible for interruptions caused by infrastructure beyond our control, and may restrict availability for maintenance, security or capacity reasons, taking Members’ legitimate interests into account.

As a Closed Beta participant, you commit to take an active part in the programme. In particular, you agree to: actively test and use the feature set made available to you; engage with the Platform on a regular basis during the Closed Beta; and participate in user surveys, interviews and other feedback activities that Matchspace may reasonably request, to help us evaluate and improve the Platform.

Any feedback, suggestions, bug reports or other input you provide is given voluntarily and without restriction. Matchspace may use it freely and without obligation, compensation or confidentiality, for any purpose including developing and improving the Platform, and no such use creates any obligation to you or affects Matchspace's rights.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access immediately where you materially breach these Terms or the Teaching Terms, violate applicable law or third-party rights, provide inaccurate or fraudulent information, or where necessary to protect the safety or property of Matchspace, Members or third parties. You may stop using the Platform and close your account at any time. Provisions that by their nature survive (intellectual property, licence, liability, tax, governing law) continue to apply.

Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Matchspace is liable only for intent and gross negligence in connection with the use of the Platform or a contract between Members. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015 and applicable EU consumer law, or under art. 100 of the Swiss Code of Obligations. Consumers’ mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Matchspace and its officers, directors, employees and agents against claims, liabilities, damages, losses and reasonable costs (including legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or the Teaching Terms, your content, your lessons, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

Changes to these Terms

We may change these Terms. We will post the revised Terms, update the version and date, and give at least 30 days’ notice by email of material changes. If you do not agree, you may terminate before the changes take effect; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.

Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute relating to them or to your use of the Platform are governed by the laws of Switzerland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the Vienna Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG). The place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland.

Consumer carve-out. If you are a consumer, this choice of law and jurisdiction does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in, and rely on the mandatory consumer rights of, your country of residence (including the UK and EU member states).
